Good morning, Tulsa lawn care community. Kevin here with kicking grass and taking names. Lawn Care home of the $5 First Snow guys, I hope we’re doing good out there today. Uh, we’ve had a week of snow and if you are in the snow business, man, you had a good week. Alright, so there’s a saying that they have out there, and it goes something like, luck is when opportunity needs preparation. Okay? And if you really, really think about that, what it basically means is there’s no such thing as luck. If you’re constantly preparing for an upcoming event, if you’re constantly preparing for the possibility of different scenarios in, in a profession that you do, um, slow times, being able to pivot real quick and, and just do new types of tactics. For instance, uh, being able to equip your lawn care equipment with shovels and stuff and plows so you can start plowing for snow.
Uh, being able to equip your, uh, dump trailers to handle, uh, you know, like trash and debris and, and junk removal and big, big objects and things like that. So basically what I’m saying is you make your own luck. Um, God helps those who help themselves. Uh, opportunities are always gonna arise. It’s just, are you ready for them? Are you prepared? Okay. Um, and, and sometimes when you do stuff long enough, the luck is, and I say that in quotation marks, uh, being able to see what you have and how you can use it for the situation in front of you. Uh, ’cause while you can prepare for certain things, you know, like, hey, you got, you know, maybe you’re into lawn care and you know, one day it might snow in your area. Uh, ’cause here, you know, here in green Country, it does not snow, snow that much.
Tulsa lawn care community. Uh, however, since as long as we’ve been doing this as a company, we’ve had one snow event good enough per season. Now, is that profitable to have gone and got a, a plow or things like that? No, I probably not. But it, it has been a situation where if we had the plow, we might’ve been able to make a little bit more money. And, and you know, I, I guess it really also depends on how you wanna look at it. Uh, ’cause then we can make we, from what we are able to do, which is just shovel snow, you know, we obviously, obviously did the best snow removal ever for us this season, but we also pursued it. Um, which is the other thing. Um, so Tulsa lawn care community, also having a, a, a long guy that you already use and know and trust and can and, and know that he can be there and help you and, and stuff, I think is really good as well.
Uh, for you as a customer, you know, uh, you, you obviously don’t have to agree. You don’t have to anything, uh, simply because it, it, it, it, it is. If unless you’re a customer in that situation, you really don’t know. Uh, some people are like, oh no, I do everything on my own, which is fine and wonderful and dandy, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. But for our customers that are a little bit more elderly or a little bit more time consumed with their job or something like that, you know, by all means, having somebody, uh, you know, that already takes care of you, uh, that you just have to say, Hey, yeah, come help me out. It’d be great. Uh, I mean that’s, it’s really wonderful, uh, unique situation for you guys. So, uh, as I digress, uh, you know, he, I guess because there’s, there’s probably at least three days, four days worth of plowing, depends how you wanna look at it.
Uh, depends on when you want to have started it. Um, because some of that plowing, uh, got started while it was still, still snowing. And, um, you know, at the end of the day, you need some of these businesses. They need to be open no matter what, and they can’t wait all day long for people to show up and, and stuff. So it just really depends how you wanna look at it. Uh, some people, uh, it depends your financial situation as a company I guess as well. But for me, had we been able to get a plow, I mean, we, there are guys charging 150 to, you know, $200 an hour to plow snow, and I’m like, over here, plow, plowing driveways. You know, I’m, I’m, I’m not having to pick everything from the bottom, uh, just because it’s all manual labor and it takes forever.
Um, but again, having been, if we were able to have done all that, that they were able to do with machines, I mean, we would’ve cleared some pretty good chunk of change. And over the last six years had I bought a plow right from the get go, one, I’d be better at it. Two, I’d have more clients wanting more things plowed, which would be bigger income. And then three, uh, it would’ve been extremely profitable by this point. Uh, because like I said, we’ve had at least one, if not two, every single winter in Oklahoma. And I know some guys, you know, they’re up north. I mean, they, they do their whole season’s worth of money in a, in a winter. And they, their whole survival is off of snow contracts and, and when it will snow and things like that. And they don’t, I mean, that’s all they work.
Uh, same guy, same, same for guys with Christmas lights. They have a niche, they have a specialty, they have an ability, uh, and they get it done. So Tulsa lawn care community, um, while we’re not quite to those levels with some of these other guys, uh, we are your guy that can do majority of your stuff. If, granted, if you have a mansion, uh, you know, 5,000, 6,000 square foot house, things like that, by all means we can do it. We might be out there for a hot minute, um, you know, maybe a couple days to get everything done, but we can do it. Okay? Uh, it’s probably not the preferred guide for your property. We’re probably more somewhere between, uh, a city lot and a full acre to two acres. Uh, probably no more than two acres. ’cause at that point, I mean, we’re spending some serious time out there depending on what, uh, the property needs and stuff like that.
And so while we wanna be able to service everyone, we also have to accept our limitations and our efficiency and where we’re at. And what I, what I mean by all that is, you know, I I I think our most profitable area is, is a acre or smaller. Okay? Now, if you come at me and you have like a 1.5, 1.25, 1.75, I’m gonna say yes. Uh, but anything over two acres, uh, the answer is automatically no. Uh, and when I, now I’ve said that and I have taken on acres that are five properties or five acres, but, um, it was only a maintenance of, of an acre of the five. So the rest of it was wilderness or whatever, and he just never took care of it. Okay? So, you know, there are those exceptions, but, you know, I just, I don’t have the, the time the, the energy or the, uh, manpower to handle a five acre property at this time.
Um, starting to realize, uh, learn. I’m learning a lot. Tulsa lawn care community that having, uh, multiple guys are, is real beneficial. Uh, and then you’re able to take on all those other different properties and larger and stuff like that. Uh, but right now our, our key spot is about an acre. Um, that’s probably our sweet spot. Um, ’cause at, at some point in time our machine is covering a lot of ground. Uh, the weed eating always seems to be about the same, uh, for these properties. And what I mean by that is, you know, you have little properties, but then they have tons of things in the grass.
So you’re reading, you’re weed eating around lamps and, uh, posts and, and benches and bird baths and all these, you know, fence lines and all these different things, right? And then you go to a property that’s an acre, acre and a half and maybe half the fence line needs to be weeded because by, as you get towards the back end of the property, it kind of tapers off. You know, the grass doesn’t grow as much in this spot and you can hit it all with a mower or things like that. Uh, they don’t have near as many things in their grass, uh, like little trinkets taking up stuff. It’s just really that, you know, the house, uh, you know, maybe a, a flower bed somewhere or something like that. But I mean, other than that, it’s just kind of the normal, normal everything that you have at every other house.
Um, so all these wonderful and different things. So Tulsa Lawn Care community call kick. Congrats to taking name to Lawn Care home of the $5 first. Mow, we want to reach out to you guys.
