<silence> Good morning, Tulsa Long care community, Kevin here with kicking grass and taking names. Long hair home with a $5 first. Mow. I don’t know where I was going with that, but yep. Here I am. So folks, let’s talk, uh, let’s talk. SOD install, right? Sod install what? Yeah, sod, you know, grass. Something we need to have on our ground. So kicking grass and taking them as lawn care can come and make your house and property look absolutely beautiful. So, sod, what about sod? What kind of sod do we need? Why sod? Where should sod be put? SOD is a wonderful thing. SOD is, uh, laying down some grass where there’s just plain dirt and then all of a sudden you’ve got grass and something to mow something, to do something, to hire somebody to come and clean, take care of and keep nice. Installing SOD is not very hard.

Is this labor intensive? Um, uh, the, the, the only hard part or or part really about thinking about sod is you want to mislay the pieces. Uh, so one row is, uh, laid out, one direction, um, or one spacing, and then the next road, the next row is just kind of like staggered off. So the end pieces don’t all line up. Um, that’s really pretty much it as far as the scientific part of the sod. Um, and then once you, uh, get your first row started, you just offset your next row and you just go, keep going from there. So, and, uh, roll over some heavy equipment on it once it’s all laid down and you should be good to go. So, having said all that though, now let’s sit here and think about what else we need to do. So once you’ve got your saw down and in place, Tulsa lawn care community, uh, you want to water it.

Now, when we say water, we’re, we don’t mean, you know, heavy for hours. Make sure everything’s getting damped and wet and all this good stuff, okay? What we mean when we say water, it is make sure that you’re getting it watered for, you know, 10, 15 minutes maybe, maybe the first couple weeks every day, and then, uh, you know, quickly back off to, you know, every other day and then what, two, three times a week? Something like that. So, you know, it’s, it’s not too hard, not too particular. There’s also like, what I like to call cheat codes, okay? Um, and, you know, you’re 10 different landscapers, 10 different sheet codes. I’m telling you, it’s, it’s, you’re never gonna find one that’s gonna be all exactly the same, but, you know, not heavy fertilizer because you don’t want to over, you know, overdo it on your lawn, but putting down the

Right type of fertilizer that it needs, being new sod and all that stuff, you want to go and get it down and, and taken care of. Okay? So folks, help us, help you and let us put some sod down. Make that yard look really good. Instantaneously, you could over seed your yard, which means you put a whole bunch of seeds down, you put some, uh, uh, either some manure or some topsoil or something else down on top of ’em. Water ’em, and hopefully they grow in place. Um, which will work just fine too. It just takes more time. Sod is kind of cutting, uh, cutting ahead and you’ve already got grass. And then it should take root within, I don’t know, a month or two, uh, but it’s gonna be growing from what you lay it down at. So, Tulsa lawn care community there. In where we are at, there’s just about three types of sod that we usually deal with.

Uh, one being Bermuda, two being fescue, and three Zoya. Uh, those are the three main types of sod that we lay or deal with in, uh, green country here. So, uh, the main two are Bermuda and fescue. Uh, Bermuda’s more for your open areas, okay? Where there are, there is no shade, plenty of sunlight, uh, plenty of room to grow and spread. Bermuda is kind of like more like a weed, alright? Uh, because it, it overtakes things. It just grows, it reaches, it finds bald spots, it grows out. If you’re familiar with Bermuda, you’ll notice that whenever you go, you know, if your yard has Bermuda, uh, you’ll notice that whenever you go to do your stuff, you’re going to see that it fingers over onto the cement, okay? And when it does that, what it does is it takes over ’cause it’s wanting to go where the heat is.

And so when there is no grass in a bald spot that has these, uh, Bermuda, then you’ll see lots of long little fingers going over to that spot and taking it over, which is a good thing. You want your Bermuda to grow like that, okay? And Bermuda will grow, and if you have healthy Bermuda, it won’t get outta control. Okay? You could go 1, 2, 3 weeks and it’s gonna look shaggy. Uh, but it’s not gonna look wildly unkept like if you have nothing but full of wheats, okay? Um, in Bermuda, you can cut at several different heights. Uh, you keep it long, you keep it short. Um, keeping it, if it’s really out in the sun, really open

And nothing blocking it, keeping it short’s probably best. Uh, if it’s not, if it’s got some shade to it, keeping it a little bit longer, you know, it’s, it’s just all varies. Every house is gonna vary, okay? But you definitely do not want the Bermuda under shade, okay? Like long periods of shade, Tulsa lawn care community, the grass needed for under the shade is fescue. Uh, that grass is what needs to be shaded. It only needs roughly four hours of sunlight, um, to survive. Uh, and it’s kept a lot longer than, uh, like lengthwise than Bermuda. Um, it, however, you know, you, you want to be three to four inches on the Bermuda. I mean, I’m sorry, on the fescue. Uh, you don’t want to let it get too outta control because if you let it get too tall, then it has a lot of, uh, clippings, which can cause excess amount of debris and cover up the, the fescue.

Um, and then you have to go, you know, you can either bag it, which is fine, um, or you can blow all the clippings around and stuff like that. Which, either one of those is good. It, it’s just if you have a lot of excess clippings though, you’ll probably want a bag just because, uh, fescue is a very temperamental grass, Tulsa lawn care community. If you want to constantly have to take care of grass, fescue is your grass. Uh, now it looks super nice and it stays greener longer than Bermuda. Um, and if you keep up with it, I mean, it’s a very nice, nice looking grass. And, um, but like I said, very temperamental, very labor intensive yard. Um, you know, the, the get best results you need to bag everything and, and things like that. So don’t write off fescue, but also don’t, uh, you need to see the benefits of both.

In fact, some places, some people will mix their yard with fescue and, uh, Bermuda. That way they have a green yard longer for more the year. Uh, fescue will kind of brown out a little bit, uh, you know, just kind of depending where it is and things like that. But for the most part, it, it pretty much stays green looks really nice all year long, but, you know, very labor intensive. So folks just keep in mind that you want to, uh, lay sod in those bald spots end up, depending where those spots are, depends on the type of grass you want to put. Okay? Soya is more in the middle. I think it’s a hybrid of Bermuda to to be exact. Uh, it, it, it does not need as much sunlight as Bermuda, but it needs more than fescue by far many people, uh, like soya because it’s a, it’s a, it’s a very nice looking grass. Um, it’s very carpeted. It, it stays a little bit greener that more longer than Bermuda and, uh, can handle a little bit more shade. Uh,

But for the most part, you want it to be in a lot of sunlight. I mean, even vest, you can handle a lot of sunlight. It’s just, it will also survive in very little sunlight. So folks, let us know how we’re doing. Let us know what we can do for you. In as far as sod install, uh, it’s, it’s not too hard to, to have it done. It’s, it’s not hard to keep it alive. Uh, it will just take root and take off, which is what you’re wanting. And you want it to look good and nice most of the year. And that’s exactly where we’re at. So, have faith, take sod, get it ready, toast the lawn care community. There are tons and tons of things that you can sod places, you can sod and things like that. Some places that receive no light at all.

You need to kind of come to terms with that and possibly think of rock or something like that. Uh, a lot of that being, uh, the sides of houses, uh, these homes are getting taller, bigger fences are getting higher. And so you just really want to line those, uh, things up with, uh, stuff you don’t have to worry about. You know, just make, make it a nice smooth transition from front yard to backyard. Something easy to walk on. Uh, nothing too hard, nothing too complicated. Uh, but you know, when you got those taller fences, you might want a borderline your yard with fescue. Uh, or not just make the whole thing, uh, fescue, uh, that way you don’t have to worry about it. You have a nice green yard, uh, rough and tough and, and looking great. So, uh, enjoy the grass that we can lay for you.

Enjoy the sod. It’s a, it’s a shortcut. It looks great. Um, it usually takes foot. And again, when, when having stuff done to your property, make sure you know what they’re doing. Make sure they put down the right types of sod. Uh, do, do not let them just throw anything down. Just confirm what they’re doing that you know you’re hiring these people. Or, or if it’s city employees or whatever. Make sure they know what they’re doing. Make sure you get the right saw down. ’cause all it’s gonna do, end up turning in the, in the long run is a headache for you. And meaning more work, meaning that you’ll have to hire somebody else to come out and fix it or, or replace it or whatever. Okay? So the last thing you guys want to have to do is put down a ton more sod, uh, when you know they can be done right the first time.

So make sure you know, uh, the type of sod that you need for the area that you’re getting, uh, laid and, and all that good stuff. Uh, so folks, give us a call.
