<silence> Good morning, Tulsa Lawn care community. Kevin here with kicking grass and taking names. Long hair home of the $5 first Mow folks, how we doing out there today? Wonderful. I hope it is a beautiful Friday morning. Once again, we are, uh, out enjoying the world bright and early, uh, looking at the grass growing and the sun shining. It’s gonna be a great day today, folks. So let’s talk about the reason why you’re hiring a, uh, lawn care quote unquote professional. Uh, that term can be used loosely because literally the definition of a professional is getting paid to do something. Uh, does not mean that they’re worthy of getting paid, but it just means they got paid to, to perform an activity. Now, having said that, a lot of your lawn care guys may not have a lot of experience. Maybe they’re young, maybe they’re starting out, maybe they just got a fresh idea in their head.
On the other hand, there’s also guys that have been around a very long time who have a lot of years under their belt that enjoy what they do and have earned the title professional, um, or however you wanna look at it. If not, uh, but they, they definitely have an understanding of how lawns work for the most part. Uh, other things within the lawn, uh, that work, if it’s, uh, being fertilized, if it’s just an infest, an infested with, uh, weeds and, and disease or, you know, maybe sprinkler heads are busted or whatnot here, not have not, so they do have some experience. So, Tulsa Lawn Care community, you, you definitely want to kind of do your homework on your guys, still on your guy, how long they’ve been doing it, have they been around a while, do they have a footprint in the neighborhood, things like that.
You definitely want a guy that’s been around, uh, more than a year, you know, that way you, your guy will have some experience. Uh, the other thing is, if you do have those guys, be honest with them. Tell ’em what you want. Be upfront. Uh, you know, we make plans for the day and organize our day, and then you guys try to change things last minute. And sometimes guys carry their entire shop with them, and sometimes guys only carry what they need with them. Uh, you know, have at it at as you will, but you, you need to allow for preparation. So guys can, one, make sure they do it in a timely manner that’s respectful of the person that you’ve hired time. And then two, they can be prepared and do it in the right way. So, Tulsa Lawn Care community. Uh, the last thing you really want to do is open up your mouth and show how disrespectful, disrespectful, and ignorant you can be when it comes into regards with your lawn care.
At no other profession. Would you call ’em up last minute and say, oh, hey, can you throw this on while you do my dental work? I understand it’s a cleaning, but can you also just do a crown real quick? It’ll only take a few minutes. Or for a lawyer, oh, hey, I know we’re going to court right now and you’re going to argue my case against the insurance company. But while you’re there, can you also file a lawsuit for this? Just take a few minutes. No, it’s not how it works. You call, you give heads up, you give information, you give, uh, little wants and facts that are needed about the, the project and, and then we plan accordingly. Uh, adding things in last minute is, is very disrespectful of your lawn care professional’s time and effort that he puts towards your lawn. It’s also disrespectful to the other people in his route because, uh, everyone’s kind of expecting a certain timeframe and then your 10 to 15 minutes as you put it, which never really is, by the way, uh, is a good 30 to 40 minutes later.
Okay? Oh, well then you’re just doing something wrong. Long care professional, eh, you know, perspective, I guess, uh, you’re wanting something done. Um, if you did it, it would take you all day. You’d be there from sunup to sundown. Uh, I’ll do it. It’ll take me 30 or 45 minutes in your head. You think it only takes 10? Okay, sorry. It doesn’t, you still have to analyze, still have to, uh, figure out. There could be problems that arise from it. You just need to be, again, more respectful of other people’s time. Uh, you want people to respect your time, as in you want your long care professional, uh, to show up when he said he is going to. You want him to, uh, do, uh, accomplish what he said he was gonna accomplish in a timely manner and, uh, not be there all day long.
Uh, ’cause if that was the case, why don’t you just do it yourself? So, Tulsa Lawn Care community, um, knowing and planning ahead is key in having a great relationship with your lawn care professional. Uh, again, if you plan ahead with him and her, you will be able to find, uh, that common ground. You will be able to get those projects done in a timely and effective, efficient manner. Okay? So don’t sit here and fret and think that, oh no, he doesn’t want the opportunity. Oh, he does. Just like anybody in, in a service industry wants the opportunity, but they need to plan for it. Okay? Alright. So, so many times out there in the, uh, wonderful world of lawn care, our clients will always update them
With, oh, can you just do this real quick again, plan ahead. Uh, he is, they, they’re called lawn care professionals for a reason. Um, they are very much try to be respected, but when they end up with clients that like to add things on last minute, that’s when they need to decide to step in and be like, Hey, listen, this is what we’re gonna have to work with. This is what I can do for you next time when we plan ahead. Lemme get the exact wants and desires for the project Clarification and exactly what you need done. So, Tulsa Lawn Care community. So communication is the key to any great relationship. No matter what you’re in, whether it’s a personal or business, communication is what you need. Knowing how to communicate and communicating effectively and precisely will get you what you want. Being vague, short and quick will lead to undesirable results and unhappiness.
Of course, you’re going to blame the lawn care professional because you were not able to articulate what you wanted, how you want it and when you want it. But in reality, it was the fact that you chose the last minute to update him on a desire project or something that could have used a little more time and detail in order to get this point across. Too many times, uh, clients try to add things in last minute hoping it can be done in a very quick manner. And that, like they say, there’s three ways things are done. There’s cheap, there’s quick, and there’s good. But you can only have two of those things. You can never have all three, okay? You can either have quick and cheap, but it won’t be good. You can either have, uh, cheap and good, but it won’t be quick. Okay?
You can have quick and good, but it won’t be cheap. So you gotta understand that the combination that you want will lead to the results, uh, of your project and how you ask for it and how you go about trying to set it up. So, Tulsa lawn care community, don’t be one of those people that are disrespectful of other people’s time and are disrespectful of, uh, your lawn care professional’s time. Okay? If you want the project done and you want it done right, articulate what you want. Specific guidelines, maybe pictures, maybe who knows what else you’ve got to explicitly tell ’em, Hey, this is what I want. ’cause the last thing you want is your bush. You’ve been going for two years to be wiped out simply because you said, oh, clear everything out of this flower bed. Okay? Everything got cleared out.
Well, not the, I meant the, oh, okay, well you just said clear everything out. You didn’t specify what you wanted. Okay? So this is what I’m talking about. You’re in a hurry. You wanna hurry up and convey something ’cause you just want it done. And you give very minimal instructions to your lawn care professional who has to then decipher, well, what do they really want? Okay? Uh, projects take time, uh, and clarification. We wanna make sure you guys get exactly what you want when we’re out there, while we’re out there. Yes, we can definitely help you out and get your projects done. That is not the problem. We just want to clarify on how they are done, when they’re done, and exactly what things need to be removed and or added. Having this knowledge will lead you to a great and a successful relationship with your lawn care professional and to make you realize how, uh, useful he can be, especially when you articulate exactly how you want your, uh, projects done and with good clarification.
