Good morning, Tulsa Lawn care community. Kevin here with kicking Grass and taking names. Lawn Care home with a $5 first Mow. Folks, I hope we’re doing all right there today. We are enjoying a beautiful crisp morning out here in green Country. Uh, lovely weather. Uh, and what I mean by that is, uh, there is some rain going on. Uh, hopefully it won’t last too long. Uh, just enough to get the ground wet and then we can go about our day getting those lawns taken care of folks. Let’s talk about types of grass. I have a, uh, one of my customers has, uh, she has a new property, uh, and she likes it. And the neighbor across the street has some grass that he mows. Really, really shorts. Uh, I got to talking to him the other day and I asked him what kind of grass he has.

He has that tempura toka to something. Anyway, it’s a hybrid grass of Bermuda and something else, and it, it, you can mow it really, really, really super, super short, like golf course short. So it’s pretty cool, pretty nice looking. I asked him, he used a real mower and he said, no, he has the company that comes out and they use the, the big zero turns like a weed use. And I’m like, it just, it looks nice. You can tell, you know all that. And he’s like, yeah, he is like, but you know, you definitely don’t have to, uh, you definitely have to follow the steps of, uh, heights and stuff like that as the season progresses and it gets hot. Uh, he’s like, all right. He’s like, right now, every time they mow it looks like they scalp it ’cause you know, just the way it is and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

And I was like, I understand that. And I was like, it looks nice. It looks good. Um, uh, because my customer was like, oh, hey, is there any way we can get that short? And I said, we can definitely try. So we can always try for you guys. But you gotta understand, not all grasses are equal. Not all grasses are the same Tulsa lawn care community. Majority of your grass that we have out here is Bermuda. And if you have no grass underneath a tree, well then you have no grass. What you should have underneath trees is fescue. Uh, underneath the trees is fescue. Why? ’cause fescue only requires about four hours of sunlight to, to grow, to succeed while regular. Just normal old regular Bermuda requires a healthy eight hours of nice bright, look at me, I’m glorious. Uh, sunlight. Okay. Okay. So having said all that Tulsa lawn care community, when I say to my customers, I will try, I also try to explain to them, you know, oh, you know, ’cause she, she wanted all the grass shorter, much shorter. And I said, well, as far as the Bermuda goes, I’ll get it as short as I can, which I am doing, uh, without having it look too scalped. And then as far as the fescue goes, I said,

We are not gonna do that. ’cause one fescue is a really nice grass. It is, but it’s, it’s high maintenance. Uh, you know, you gotta put a lot of work into it. You gotta, uh, do a lot of things to, to maintain it and keep it looking good and nice and all that fun stuff. So, uh, you don’t want to scalp your fescue. Uh, if you got a lot of land, you don’t necessarily need to bag your fescue, but when you, uh, blow it, or when you mow your fescue, you need to make sure that stuff gets blown everywhere. Uh, that way it’s not piling up in one spot on the fescue, which is really what you want, or really what you do not want. You do not want it to, to, to fester on that. ’cause I mean, the moment you lose fescue, you lost fescue.

It doesn’t grow back. You do have to replant every two years, uh, in order to keep a nice, healthy, thick looking, um, grass. So, and it does, it looks great. Uh, her lawn is very nice looking, um, and all that good fun stuff. So anyway, uh, we’re out there. We’re, we’re cutting it short for them and, and stuff because it’s, it’s that season, it’s time. It’s okay. We can still cut really super short and it’s okay with it. Um, you wanna progress though, going from with Bermuda, you know, from two and a half to about three inches, uh, by August, uh, you don’t want to have too much, uh, growth with your Bermuda. Bermuda. You don’t want to have grow too long ’cause then can fe to lots of nasty little things and stuff like that. We wanna make sure, uh, we take care of our Bermuda, make sure we keep it down low, nice and sharp looking, uh, that way we have a nice good healthy looking grass and we’re not dealing with long and disgusting and all sorts of different things in there.

Uh, fesco on the other hand, you probably want to grow from about three, three and a half to, to four inches. Uh, it just depends on how much little light you’re getting. Um, you don’t really want. And, and at some point, depending on how much it’s covered or how, how your fescue is covered, as far as with trees and stuff like that, you may even want to, um, put mowing in just, and just let it be there. Uh, ’cause it may even stop growing. I’ve got one customer who’s, uh, backyard, uh, you know, I’ve, I only mow like a handful of times this season, uh, because it doesn’t grow that much at all. And, uh, majority of the summer, I don’t grow it at all. I don’t mow it at all. Uh, so it’s quite interesting. A lot of fest, a lot of land and just, uh, upfront stuff that ex gets hits by the sun. Tulsa lawn care community grass is a finicky thing. Um, it is a personal thing if you’re into it. Uh, some people aren’t. They just think it’s a one. You know, it exists and it grows no matter what. For the most part, they’re right. It does. Uh, grass, I’ve said this before, is a lot like food. People will want it handled in very special. It’s particular process.

Um, they don’t want to deal with, uh, people’s interpretations and things like that. They’re like, this is my lawn. I know how it grows. And for the most part, they are right. It is their lawn. They know

How, how it grows. They know how they want it handled, which is absolutely wonderful. We love those people. ’cause then they, it’s a cheat sheet. They tell us how to do it, and we do it and it comes out looking great. Um, the only time I have to say that I will be like, Hmm, here’s my warning is when they say, can you cut it shorter, folks? Cutting it shorter does not do anything. If it’s, if it’s the right grass, that’s fine. But even then, uh, cutting it shorter does not do anything for it. Um, I, I know they’re hoping that it won’t grow as fast and things like that, but, um, there’s a magic height. I I’m just gonna say magic height. I’m making this up completely. Uh, you know, I’m sure there’s actual scientific or, or certain words that are made for this, but there’s a certain height that all grasses like to be at and they race to get there, okay?

Um, and once they get there, then they like to hang out that height and they’ll keep growing. Don’t get me wrong. I mean, we, we do see massive giant prairie fields and they’re absolutely gorgeous. But, uh, you know, they got, you’ve gotta understand that there’s, there’s a specific height that grasses like to be at. And so the shorter you cut it, I feel like it is, it grows faster to get back to that point. Um, it doesn’t stop growing once it gets that point, but it tries to hurry up and get there as quick as possible. Tulsa, long carry community. Uh, allowing grass to grow super tall is no good either, because then you have all those clippings to deal with. Okay? Now if things happen like weather and other things like that, that’s fine. I get it. Uh, we can always, uh, ramp up, take our time and do what we can to do with it.

Uh, but however, okay, allowing grass to, to get super high and then coming back and chopping it down is, is just like scalping it every single time. And it causes a very shocking, uh, uh, situation for the grass. Like, oh my gosh, what just happened? And the grass, you know, it puts it through a process. And we don’t wanna put grass through a process. We want our grass to grow. We want our grass to be healthy. So we need to make sure that we’re doing what we need to do to take care of it in a proper way. Um, week, 10 days, two weeks, that’s probably your best scenario as far as how you need to handle your grass. Uh, there are some people I’ve started to run into whose lawns are just on their own completely and they just do whatever it is. Um, so they go from mowing once a month and, and, and I’ve come back and I’m like, listen, I don’t wanna deal with this.

And I’ll drive by. And I’m like, I know it’s been a month since I’ve been there and I’m looking over. I’m like, doesn’t look that bad. Okay, maybe I’ll still with it. Stick with it. So it is possible to have some types of lawns that just, they just don’t grow that much. Um, and some people are okay with that. And they understand that. Like I said, lawn lawns are very personal, lawns are very different. Uh, you know, the way the house angled, how many trees you have, how much sunlight and wind and all that stuff that the grass absorbs and gets and nutrients, okay? They’re all different. I mean, there are some lawns of green. Be mow twice a, like literally twice in a week. Okay? Not every other week or something like that. I’m talking about two times in one single week. Gotta get ’em mowed Tulsa lawn care community mowing grass is what kicking grass does.
